What's your MLB power poll look like? by Corona
Q: Rank teams from 1-30, regardless of division or league. Mine looks something along the lines of:
1. Rays..... Best all-around offense; great defense; extremely talented, young rotation.
2. Phillies
3. Yankees..... Jeter is 36, Rivera is 39, and Posada is 38, and all three will be leaned on heavily.
4. Red Sox
5. Cardinals
6. Dodgers.... The lineup is maturing, Manny isn't suspended, and the pitching is, as always, great.
7. White Sox
8. Twins.... Losing Nathan hurts; even with Liriano back, it's gonna be tough.
9. Rangers.... Added Vlady and Harden, and will have Hamilton, Feliz, Borbon, and Andrus all year.
10. Cubs
11. Angels
12. Mariners..... This is assuming Bedard is back sooner rather than later, and that Lee is okay.
13. Braves
14. Brewers.... The offense is willing, but the pitching is weak.
15. Indians
16. Rockies
17. Marlins
18. Tigers.... They could really surprise... but too many question marks for me.
19. D-backs.... See #18.
20. Astros.... Oswalt and Wandy will be good, but after that it's a crapshoot.
21. Mets..... If they were healthy, they'd be in the top 10.
22. Orioles
23. Giants.... Their offense is just Bad.
24. Reds
25. A's
26. Blue Jays
27. Royals
28. Padres
29. Nationals
30. Pirates
A: Rays first? bold move. I won't rank all thirty but I'll give you my top 5.
1. Phillies- amazing offense to begin with. Stronger pitching staff with Halladay, Hamels, and Happ.
2. Yanks- Good pitching staff and all around good offense
3. Cards- No holes in offensive lineup. Great pitching in Wainwright and Carpenter
4. Mariners- Lee and Felix lead the staff and Ichiro leads developing offense
5. Red Sox- always a force to be reckoned with. Martinez helps out offense a lot

24. (191) Ricky Nolasco (Fla - SP)
25. (194) Michael Bourn (Hou - OF)
A: 2B and RP. Martin Prado is freakishly overrated. No one can tell me what he does besides hitting for average...Why? Because all he does is hit for average lol. He's a one-trick pony with no power or speed. Hell, even Placido Polanco has some speed, but Prado has absolutely nothing except for batting average, which (mind you) is the most fickle of all the major hitting categories in fantasy baseball as sometimes players' averages can fluctuate 40 or 50 points from one year to the next. If Prado's average plummets to below .280 this season then he would have no value at all.
I like Feliz a lot, but I believe he's going to end up being a SP sooner rather than later. Apart from that, the only other RP you have is Soriano and he's not the closer so you might as well just punt saves.
Other than that, you look pretty good at all the other positions. You have a surplus at C with Posey and Santana and I'm sure someone will be willing to pay a pretty penny for Posey's services. IF you want a 2B, then put Posey on the trading block...By the way, how the hell did Carlos Santana fall all the way to the 175th pick!!!!! How did Billingsley fall to the 178th pick! HOW DID JUSTIN UPTON FALL TO PICK 98...AND WHY DID YOU TAKE COLBY RASMUS AND MARTIN PRADO OVER HIM?!
Whenever you guys hold another draft, I want to join :-)

A: It's not bad at all, as long as your in a 12+ team league. You have a good mix of proven veterans and young players with up side. I think you may switch some bench and bullpen guys early, mostly because with Soriano setting up and Feliz moving to the rotation you don't have a closer.
Fantasy Baseball - Buckholtz for Nolasco? by JimBo

The rest of my starting staff is Cliff Lee, YGallardo, Pettitte, Pelfrey, Liriano, Zito, Lackey

Well, this has been an interesting start to the season so far. Who would'a thought the Indians were going to lead the Twins by 13.5 games? And the Mariners are only 2.5 games out of first. Jose Bautista has turned into Barry Bonds, while Albert Pujols has been pretty bad compared to his other seasons.
My predictions!
AL East:
Red Sox
AL Central:
Indians
AL West:
Mariners
NL East:
Phillies
NL Central:
Brewers
NL West:
Rockies
Logic:
AL East- I picked the Red Sox because I think the comeback of Carl Crawford will help the Red Sox tremendously taking over the East. I also think Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon are playing in-over-their heads, and will regress to their true talent level. The Rays will make it a three-way race until the very end though
AL Central- The Twins looks absolutely terrible, and I expect them to continue their current trend. The Indians are not playing in-over-their heads though, because a lot of players have emerged for their team.
AL West- The Mariners have been the best team in baseball since April 17th. Neftali Feliz will regress, because he has gotten very lucky so far this season. The Mariners will acquire a big-name player at the trade deadline (David Wright or Carlos Beltran) and Dustin Ackley will provide a huge offensive boost
NL East- Phillies are good, and Josh Johnson on the DL will hurt the Marlins.
NL Central- Kyle Lohse will regress, but Pujols will play like himself from here on. But it won't be enough for Fielder, Greinke, Marcum, Braun and the Brewers.
NL West- DiamondBacks are playing better than their true talent level as well, and will regress. Giants losing Posey for the season hurts them A LOT as he was their only offensive force, though getting Pablo back will help. Rockies finally have the Ubaldo Jiminez of 2010 it seems, and with the Tulo getting luckier on base hits, Rockies will win the West.
World Series- The Phillies win the World Series against the Cleveland Indians in 7 games
AL MVP- Jose Bautista
NL MVP- Ryan Braun
AL CY- Jered Weaver
NL CY- Roy Halladay
AL ROY- Michael Pineda
NL ROY- Domonic Brown
2011 Midseason trades:
Jose Reyes traded to Blue Jays for Travis D'Arnaud
Matt Kemp traded to Mariners for Nick Franklin, Taijuan Walker
Hunter Pence traded to Phillies for Domonic Brown
2012 offseason:
Albert Pujols signs with Cubs for 7 years/$210 million
Prince Fielder signs with Mariners for 7 years/$165 million
Jose Reyes signs with Blue Jays for 7 years/$142 million
Lance Berkman resigns with Cardinals for 3 years/$36 million
CC Sabathia signs with Yankees for 7 years/$200 million
What are some of your predictions?
A: Gee, I hope your right about the Mariners.
WS - RedSox vs Phillies, the rest doesn't matter as obviously, they don't make it.
Your picks for awards is well thought out, but your off season signings - not in this economy. But then again - what do I know?
Can someone help me w/ spanish translation? by canflippuck6
Q: We are doing a skit in spanish. Basically it's an interview w/ a someone who has a spanish heritage (we chose A-Rod). I just have a couple questions that I am unclear if they are grammatically correct. Below the actual dialogue is the part in english, or what I'm trying to say.
How special will it be when you end up breaking Barry Bonds’ homerun record?
If I break Barry Bonds' homerun record it will be very special. Hopefully (con suerte) baseball will become very popular.
How special was your 500th homerun?
When I hit it I didn’t really think it was that special. Today, I now look at it as a very special milestone; only 24 other players have ever accomplished the feat.
You just had surgery, how tough is it not to start the season with the Yankees?
It’s already tough; I want to be out there playing. Hopefully, I will only be out for six weeks.
Speaking of the Mariners and your mother, what was her reaction when they drafted you?
She was very happy. During the draft she cried a lot, I cried more.
Ok this is all... You have a little mistakes about spell, but now is all ok.
Good luck!!

Who sould i pickup?
A: Well it depends on your needs but in general I would rate them:
1. Eric Chávez
(Oak - 3B)
Not having a great year by his standards but has a good track record in the past as a power hitting 3rd baseman
2. Bill Hall
(Mil - 3B,SS,OF) - Both a speed and power threat and plays 3 positions. Batting avg a little low.
3. Garrett Atkins
(Col - 3B)
NYYFA5428961/2502761361807343..
Had a really bad start to the season but is starting to heat up now and had a huge year last year and he plays half his games in hitters paradise Coors Field.
4. Mark Teahen
(KC - 3B,OF)
FA12213373/2583573521155377.28...
One of the most under-rated all-around players. Will help you a bit in almost every offensive category
5. Brandon Inge
(Det - 3B)
FA23513855/21637553410011353.2..
If you really need power this guy (or Chavez) would be the best choice. But you have to put up with Inge's low batting average.
6. Melvin Mora
(Bal - 3B)
@SDFA14613563/2534063371511035...
Kind of the exact opposite of Inge. Great hitter for average with some power and speed.
I wouldn't recommend taking any of the others. All of those 6 have their upsides. You must play in a really uncompetitive league if all of them are on the waiver wire.

Since all teams look good, hard to say, so I am looking for opinions.
2 of each position players, 4 outfielders plus 4 utility players.
A: There's no real way of telling who's going to win this. Anything can and will happen. I say team Roy Hobbs, because he managed to draft Ryan Ludwick in the last round.
All time strikeout (K) record.? by Coolio
Q: Well whoever is looking at this i'd like to hear your opinion on who will defeat the K record? So far I think it'll be Scott Kazmir or Felix Hernandez. Scott has about 950 k's and he's only 24... so by the time he is 30 he'll have 2000 k's so did Nolan Ryan. See what I mean?
Feliz is 22 and has around 590 strikeouts he rapidly gets better so I think he'll have 200 by the time he is 30 as well.
A: Just remember that with age, especially with pitchers today, aging diminishes good starts and 5,000 strikeouts in my opinion, will never be broken again and it's hard to know what's coming in the future. A possible career changing injury? could be.
Which of these MLb younger players would you rather have on your team? by
Q: These guys were all at one time big prospects, and now are out to prove themselves. WHo would you rather have on your team for the future?
C- Carlos Santana-25-CLE / Matt Weiters-24-BAL
CF-Peter Boujos-24-LAA / Michael Brantley-23-CLE
CF-Dexter Fowler-25-COL / Austin Jackson-24-DET
LSP-David Price-25-TB / Clayton Kershaw-23-LAD
RRP-Daniel Bard-25-BOS / Natali Feliz-22-TEX
RSP-Daniel Hudson-24-ARZ / Kyle Drabek-23-TOR
OF-Andrew McCutchen-24-PIT / Justin Upton-23-ARZ
And of the 2 flame throwers
Stephen Strasburg-22-WAS / Aroldis Chapman-23 CIN
Write another one good comparison down if you have one to.
A: C- Santana
CF: Brantley. As an Angel fan, Bourjos is nice but nothing special. Brantley looks real good.
CF: Austin Jackson
LSP: Kershaw
RRP: Netfali Feliz, without a doubt. Bard looks real shaky and insconsistent at times.
RSP: Kyle Drabek
OF: Justin Upton
I would choose Chapman over Strasburg only because I'm uncertain about Strasburg's future after Tommy John surgery. Mark Prior, who was at one time considered a future superstar, faltered after his Tommy John surgery.
I got one. Which catcher would you rather have: Hank Conger, 22 years old, or Jesus Montero, 21 years old?
1B: Ike Davis, 24 years old, or Justin Smoak, 24 years old.
OF: Mike Stanton or Jason Heyward. Both are 21 years of age.

fantasy baseball question? by
Q: ok im in a long time keeper league that involves money but i also usually play 1 or 2 free yahoo teams. This was the first year i did the bid auction..My question is this..if you start with 260 dollars why do most of the teams spend more than half on their first three picks? Am i missing something? I usually pony up 45-50 for one of the best but then i sit back and watch these idiots load up on offense..Yeah those 3 guys are great but how are they going to spend 60-80 on their remaining 17-18 spots? I dont care which 3 offensive players you have its not going to carry you... If you have zero relief and your best pitcher is aj burnett its going to be a long season.. Especially in head to head play. ended up with a team of
1. joe mauer
2. Paul konerko
3. Choone figgins
4. Elvis Andrus
5.Casey Mcghee
6. Carlos Gonzales

24. carlos zambrano
a few other guys and i ended up having 35 left over...Some of these other guys didnt even have money left to get a few positions..what are those who draft mindset? Pitching is half the points. in theory if i could take runs and stolen bases plus dominate in pitching i would be at the top or close to it...right?
A: In theory you're correct. You walked away with a stacked rotation and some great hitters on a balanced offense.
As for what the other managers are thinking.. here is the backend strategy to auctions. Say there are 23 roster spots to fill, and they blow half their load of 3-4 guys. Granted, they'll nad a few here and there in the 20-10 $ range, but they'll mostly be waiting until the end and just nominating players. It doesnt matter how much money you spend on the other players, because you have to fill the entire roster, so by the end they can pick whoever they want for $1 apiece until their roster is full. Maybe they're high on some comeback players and/or sleepers. There is strategy is every approach to auction drafting, but investing wisely is the most common and usually the right remedy. You ended up with a stacked pitching staff and should fair very well in your league.
Good luck!

21. (250) Mike González
22. (255) Mark Loretta
23. (274) Rafael Soriano
24. (279) Mark Mulder
A: You have power and speed. Teixeira and D Lee were value picks, they shouldn't have been on the board when you got them.
Sheets probably a little too soon, but you needed pitching there and followed with Wagner which is solid. You almost can't go wrong with Pudge at catcher. Rocco Baldelli, if he stays healthy, may surprise a few people this year.
Pitching needs help, outside of Sheets (who is fragile), Kenny Rogers is your most consistent starter. He will get wins but don't expect much help in the K area. It might be wise to back up Todd Jones with Joel Zumaya in case he loses the closer job. Soriano and Mike Gonzalez can be used as trade bait for a starter to a team that is looking for closer help, there is no way Wickman can keep that job all season. Loretta will be pretty much useless, he is old and on a team that may not score a lot of runs.
Ichiro is in a contract year and may light it up this year.
Garciaparra might be a good trade candidate for starting pitching as well, you already have 2 top ten first basemen.

Mguel Layun scores his first goal with Atalanta. Your thoughts? by D.P. RIP Antonio De Nigris
Q: http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/internacional/noticias/2009/07/24/miguel-layun-feliz-por-anotar-con-atalanta
He thinks that he has a good chance of starting in the next game. What are your thoughts?
A: I've seen him play many times at Veracruz. He's a pretty good left winger. He can play right winger as well. He's got good speed, explosion on the attack, always gives his 110%. I think he'll do good.

Which gym is better in the Los Feliz area - 24hr fitness or LA fitness? by Vivian C
Q: I'm looking for a gym near Los Feliz with very good fitness classes and reasonable prices. Out of 24 hr fitness in hollywood and la fitness in hollywood, which would you guys recommend? Thank you!
A: LA Fitness tends to be very busy at the worst times, plus they have specific open times, and you sometimes have to wait a while for the machine you want.
24 Hr Fitness has their busy times, but they are open ALL day, so you can go whenever you feel like it, even if it's 2am. They also tend to not be as packed as LA Fitness, but they aren't as high tech as LA Fitness.
I would choose 24 Fitness in my opinion. It comes down to what's more convenient (distance from where you live, and times they are open), and what's more in your price range.
Before you officially join, get a free pass to both, and see which one you like better. Nearly all gyms will let you have a free trial.
