A: If you are in the USA, I would contact the local newspaper with a list of facts. Make sure you have specific instances of mismanagement with dates and times plus names if possible. If it is a self-respecting newspaper they will investigate it for you. Make sure you have the facts written down or else you will just sound like a grumpy citizen. By the way, did you mean the "mayor" or did you mean "major" as you wrote; I have never heard of the title Major involved with local governments.

I can see where he may have meant, when he served in the military, in the Vietnam era, or during Vietnam, or in the Vietnam War (military members serving stateside are considered to be a part of the war and are recognized by the US military and Veterans Affairs as having served wartime and as part of any conflict active during the period of service). But I believe the media is shamelessly blowing it out of proportion for ratings. Until very recently, I was a reporter working for a fairly large daily newspaper. I helped cover the Scott Peterson trial and scores of other, smaller scandals in my area that reporters were criticized for sensationalizing. I covered the Peterson trial knowing full well that it held no greater significance than the hundreds of other murders happening every week in America. I knew that the stories I was writing didn't really matter, but that didn't stop me from writing them. It's a question of which came first: the chicken or the egg? Did the media blow the story out of proportion, causing the public to demand more Peterson coverage? Or did the public demand more Peterson coverage first, causing the media to simply give the public what it wanted? Reporters tend to believe the latter -- that they're simply fulfilling the desires of the public. As a reporter, I believe that, too. Media coverage operates like a free market economy. The reason why Paris Hilton being released from jail made it to the front page and pushed the war in Iraq to page 12 is because readers want to know more about celebrities than about foreign policy. A newspaper that stubbornly refuses to put Paris Hilton on the front page out of principle will very quickly see its circulation decline. That's why relative newcomer USA Today is bigger and more widely-read than the New York Times. All that said, reporters like me write stories like Peterson's because we recognize that you have to take the good with the bad. A: Mandy died a couple of series ago. She died in a 'house fire'. Some mad woman who wanted to get revenge on Paddy lured her to her house and set the place on fire, killing them both. Paddy was on his way to rescue Mandy, but was too late. As for Karen, not sure what you mean by 'scene was so bad', but after having the baby, Karen went a bit loopy and was put into a psychiatric unit, she's somewhat better now and is still trying to make it up to Jamie for all the craziness with Joe. People have lost a lot of respect for her because of it. But she's trying.

A: He has a broad Mancunian accent. The show's set in Manchester so most of the characters have Mancunian accents (except Mimi who has a Scouse accent) I live in between Manchester and liverpool so I have a mixture of the two - rather beautiful really ;)
